The job itself
About Us:
Humber Forest is the Community Forest for Hull, East Riding and North Lincolnshire. It is a partnership that works to promote tree planting and create new woodlands across the region, with East Riding of Yorkshire Council as the accountable body.
We work with private and public landowners to increase tree cover for environment and community benefits on their land. We also engage with charities, businesses, community groups and residents of all ages to support and help deliver projects in their areas.
About the Role:
Your weekly tasks will include undertaking site visits to meet landowners, discussing potential tree planting design and funding opportunities, appropriate consultation with partners, ensuring projects align with Humber Forest aims, environmental objectives, and community needs.
The role also involves undertaking desktop surveys, mapping of the sites, communicating any changes or concerns with the landowner, working with internal and external agencies, and following woodland creation regulations and guidance.
You will be working closely alongside other Project Officers, Senior Project Officers and other members of the Humber Forest team. You will be responsible for managing your own caseload of potential planting projects and diary.
The role is a hybrid-working role, with a minimum of 2 days working from County Hall, Beverley. You may also be required to travel outside of East Riding for other events, on occasion.
About You:
We are looking for enthusiastic, self-motivated project officers with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
You will have the ability to create strong relationships as you will also be working closely with Humber Forest partners, such as Forestry Commission, Woodland Trust, and representatives from Hull City Council, North Lincolnshire Council, and internal East Riding of Yorkshire council departments.
You will be able to demonstrate managing your own workload effectively.
You will have the appropriate qualifications or experience, with a good understanding of woodland creation theory and regulations.
A driver’s licence and access to a vehicle is required to be able to transport yourself around the area.
