Job Purpose / Overview The role of the Commercial Finance Business Partner is to design and implement the monthly, quarterly and annual budgeting & forecasting processes and financial reporting for West Burton Energy leadership, the business owners and external stakeholders, including project financing banks. Lead the day-to-day treasury management and cash operations, primarily focused on managing the 13-week cash flow. Support Board and Lender reporting, liquidity analysis and covenant reporting to Lenders. Support evaluation of business growth opportunities and debt financing options. Contextual Information Operating Environment West Burton is a gas fired power station 100% owned by Total Energies with annual revenues of c. £0.7bn per annum. Total Energies are currently looking to sell down 50% ownership to a joint venture business partner therefore this role be integral to support the smooth transition towards this new ownership model. The role will therefore support the Board, Head of Finance and the Site Leadership Team and a play a key part in delivering best in class reporting, performance, control and governance frameworks Framework & Boundaries The roles stakeholder group will be the Leadership Team at WBB, the Head of Finance and the Board. The Commercial Finance Business Partner reports into the Head of Finance. Principal Accountabilities Reports to the Head of Finance, and partners with the Site Leadership and Department Leads to drive the budgeting & forecasting processes, including stress-testing gross margin and cost assumptions, assessment of risks and opportunities, and analysis of capital expenditure investments for management decision making. Develop and maintain financial processes and a strong financial control environment. To develop management and board reporting packages, analysing the company’s operating results and providing appropriate commentary for different stakeholders to bridge actuals versus budget/forecasts. Develop and track key financial performance indicators; provide ad hoc reporting as needed to support Site, Investor or Lender needs. Partner with the Commercial department and out-sourced trading operation to accurately record and understand monthly actual and forecast gross margin. Support the medium and long-term strategic planning process, ensuring reasonableness of assumptions and output. Maintain and update 13-week cash flow model and any other liquidity analysis required for lender reporting and monitoring of credit exposure. Lender covenant monitoring, tracking and reporting. Develop and maintain the Bank and Asset Valuation models to support engagement with Project Lenders, Investors and prospective partners, and allow for evaluation of debt financing options at the project or portfolio level. Manage the overall integrated P&L, Balance Sheet and Cashflow life-time value model and run scenarios relating to further investments, distributions and changes in market conditions. Support compliance with tax payments and tax filings Manage bank accounts, KYC process, payment approvals Develop new financial models to support the evaluation of new business growth opportunities, capital investment projects and new trading / commercial products and services to be offered by the business. Ad hoc project support e.g. review of Stores stock processes and stock valuation. Assist in other areas of finance as required as part of an integrated team. Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications & Experience Knowledge & Skills Essential 4-8 years post qualified experience; including some industry experience Proficient in Excel and advanced financial modelling (3 statement modelling). Understanding of valuation and other finance & accounting concepts. Strong strategic agility, critical thinking, problem-solving and analytical skills. Ability to communicate and write effective and concise business correspondence and presentations. Demonstrated strong teamwork and leadership skills; strong interpersonal skills along with exceptional influence and change management skills.
