This is a fantastic opportunity for a risk and control focused individual to join the Group Risk function, where you will drive enhancements to the internal control approach to meet evolving regulatory expectations, including the 2024 UK Corporate Governance Code reforms.
You will have a demonstrable practical experience in the application of risk and control frameworks, setting guidance and writing robust control documentation, as well as a good understanding of internal control testing methodologies.
What you will be doing:
1. Evolving, documenting and embedding methodologies to support an uplifted Internal Control Framework including 1st and 2nd line of defence control testing methodologies and ensuring these meet industry good practice and fulfil relevant regulatory requirements.
2. As part of risk and control self assessments (RCSAs), leading, guiding and supporting the business to deliver activities that strengthen the identification of key controls and the design / operation of controls.
3. Improving internal controls awareness and adoption of the Controls Framework throughout the business, ensuring sufficient knowledge and understanding of the importance of the process and our reporting responsibilities.
4. Developing and guiding the risk management system and reporting functionality ensuring that it accurately and efficiently facilitates regulatory/ financial reporting requirements.
5. Providing controls specialist input and progress updates for various governance fora including the Internal Control Project and Group Risk and Audit Committees.
We’re looking for a candidate with Financial Services experience, a background of operational risk and the following skills:
6. Experience of designing and applying risk and control management frameworks including RCSAs.
7. Practical knowledge of implementing or operating internal control frameworks including control assessment and testing methodologies.
8. Excellent interpersonal skills to build influential relationships and strong negotiation skills to monitor and challenge key risk and control assessments and mitigating activity.
9. Highly organised with a flexible approach, ability to handle a range of tasks and adapt to changing priorities with ease.
