The post holder will actively contribute to the delivery of the Anaesthetics service within the directorate and participate in the out of hours rota, maintaining a high standard of care. The successful candidate may be required to work across all 3 sites. The post holder will be expected to play a full part in complying with all aspects of clinical governance.
Main duties of the job
The clinical duties will include those duties normally expected of a specialty doctor in a similar sized Trust. The appointees will have completed a minimum of 5 years Specialty training in Anaesthetics or equivalent with relevant experience and competencies. Full GMC registration is essential and evidence of further experience and training in Obstetric Anaesthesia is desirable.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Full registration with the GMC with a Licence to practice
* Final FRCA or equivalent
Skills
* Ability to communicate and liaise effectively with patients and their relatives, and with colleagues in all disciplines
* Aptitude for practical skills necessary for anaesthesia
* Ability to apply sound clinical knowledge and judgement
* FRCA level or actively approaching this
* Evidence of relevant CME/CEPD from previous two years (e.g., from training programmes or appraisal)
* Evidence of interest and experience in teaching trainees in anaesthesia and other specialties, nurses and professions allied to medicine
Knowledge
* At least five years postgraduate experience in specialty training in Anaesthetics or equivalent
* Including 2 years General Anaesthetic Specialty Training via a formal training programme or equivalent
* General medical experience equivalent to UK Foundation Training
* Experience of Anaesthetics in the UK
* An understanding of evidence-based medicine
* Other relevant certified courses e.g., ALS, ATLS
