We are excited to offer an opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated Paediatric Pharmacist to join the Woman's and Children's Pharmacy team at Bristol Royal Hospital for Children. We are looking for a dynamic and innovative pharmacist to work with a growing team in providing a clinical pharmacy service to a number of paediatric medical specialties.
The medical specialties team provide a pharmacy service to a variety of paediatric specialties including General Paediatrics, Respiratory & CF, Rheumatology, Endocrinology, Gastroenterology, Neurology, Renal and many more. The post holder will provide and oversee the clinical pharmacy service to General Paediatrics, Endocrinology, Gastroenterology, Dermatology and Paediatric HDU. You will be working within a larger team under the direction of the Lead Paediatric Medical Specialties Pharmacist.
The successful candidate will be a member of our clinical pharmacy team providing Pharmaceutical care to Medical Specialties as part of the multidisciplinary team, based within Bristol Royal Hospital for Children. This post will also have regular exposure and responsibility for a number of local and regional level projects and workstreams working within the trust and in close partnership with out ICB colleagues to improve and expand the services offered to Children and Young People in the South West of England.
Main duties of the job
* Monitor, review and where appropriate prescribe (if registered as a prescriber) drug therapy for patients on medical wards ensuring drug treatments are appropriate and comply with current legislation and trust policies.
* Attend and contribute to speciality governance meetings, support patient safety initiatives and help to investigate and resolve medication incidents within your speciality areas.
* Assess the pharmaceutical needs of individual patients and advise prescribers accordingly.
* Lead the pharmacy service to several defined medical specialties including General Paediatrics, Endocrine, Gastroenterology and Dermatology.
* Provide pharmaceutical advice in all medical specialist areas and Paediatric HDU to consultant & junior medical staff, senior & ward nurses, pharmacy staff, other healthcare professionals, & patients/carers. This will include evaluating data where information is sparse or lacking or where opinions differ and formulating a reasoned approach based on professional judgement.

Qualifications and Training
* Membership of the General Pharmaceutical Council for Pharmacists
* Post Graduate Clinical Diploma in Pharmacy or equivalent
* Member of the Neonatal and Paediatric Pharmacists Group (NPPG)
Knowledge and Experience
* Post registration UK Clinical Pharmacy Experience
* Working knowledge of hospital pharmacy
* Evidence of Sound Clinical Pharmacy Methods
* Experience of Teaching/presenting
* Evidence of experience of clinically managing paediatric patients
* Evidence of Continuing Professional Development
* Experience of Audit
* Experience undertaking Quality Improvement Projects
