The role
* Responsible for Treasury and Cash Management, leading on the technical payment process and related authorisation control process
* Responsible for Accounts Payable and Cash management, leading on the non-technical payment process and related authorisation control process
* Responsible for the investment management for HDI UK & Ireland
* Management of all TPA accounts
* Support the Financial Controller to meet the Financial Control function objectives to a high standard. Developing engagement with Executive members and teams to deliver strategic goals
Key accountabilities
Treasury
* Responsible for daily, monthly and quarterly treasury and cash management
* Overview the process for preparation and analysis of Banking and Cash flow information to support cash flows between the UK and head office
* Responsible for the management of the booking of Investments on a UK GAAP and IFRS9 in conjunction with the investment managers Ampega
* Lead on preparation of relevant committees in relation to cash management and investments
* Outline and update the investment strategy to ensure investment goals are met within group guidelines
* Responsible for investment monitoring, and planning of investment timelines to ensure effective cash flow management
* Review, compile, distribute and follow-up the un-reconciled items report
* Manage bank and deposit account reconciliations for UK & Ireland entities
* Manage queries on payments and receipts from internal departments, third parties and banks
* Responsible for managing relationships with TPAs involved with Escrow accounts
* Develop and streamline the cash management process identifying potential improvements
* Review cash limits on a periodic basis
Accounts Payable
* Manage Accounts Payable process for trade invoices and employees' expenses, to develop and embed MI reporting and controls, updating for business changes and ensuring cost categories align to Expense reporting to Group
* Manage and administer the corporate credit card process, with tight controls
* Lead process for payment run, analysis and review of authorisation levels
Leadership
* Identify skills gaps and training requirements of the team/direct reports
* Provide the people within your team with the opportunities, training and experience to expand their knowledge and improve their skills
* Ensure the performance of the team remains at an excellent standard ensuring that:
o Performance objectives are set appropriately
o Performance review forms are submitted to the required standard
o Underperformance is actively managed
Process Improvement
* Identify and enhance the quality and value of processes for your area of work
Project Management
* End to end project management for functional projects and contribute to any Branch wide projects
Risk and Controls
* Design, implement and maintain process controls to ensure the quality of the output for your area/team within the function. Ensure documentation of the processes and output is accurate, up-to-date and accessible
Reporting
* Design, deliver, develop and analyse reports, identify and recommend solutions to reporting issues in line with group/branch requirements
General
* Adhere to all local and Group guidelines
* Ensure delivery of high quality and accurate financial information for the Senior Management Team and Group
Skills & experience
* Previous experience gained within a treasury environment, preferably within the Insurance industry
* Relevant accountancy or treasury qualification is preferred
* Degree or equivalent
* Strong financial control mind-set, with good knowledge of cash management
* Understanding of accounting principles
* Operate with a high level of accuracy and speed
* Good analytical skills and the ability to interpret data for MI reporting
* Ability to maintain good working relationships with colleagues is essential
* Team leadership
