Brook Street are pleased to announce a readily available position within the Gloucester GL1 1DQ working as a Fines Officer within Ministry of Justice.
The role is based on a full-time, on-site temporary assignment with a very high chance of extension
with a working pattern Mon - Fri between hours 09.00-17.00 at an hourly rate of £11.59ph,
Key purpose of the role :-
Criminal Fines Collection and Enforcement (Enforcement) is the part of HMCTS responsible in the main for the collection and enforcement of financial penalties imposed by the criminal courts and the subsequent disbursement of funds.
Financial penalties include fines, costs, victim surcharge, and compensation to victims of crime. HMCTS takes the recovery and enforcement of financial impositions very seriously and remains committed to ensuring impositions are paid.
The courts will do everything within their powers to trace those who do not pay and use a variety of means to ensure the recovery of criminal fines and financial penalties. Money can be deducted from an offender`s earnings or benefits. Other `upfront` compliance actions include increased use of telephone and text message chasing and use of tracing tools. Warrants can be issued instructing approved enforcement agents to seize and sell goods belonging to the offender. You will help deliver HMCTS` responsibilities for the enforcement of Fines, Community Penalty Breach Warrants and other enforcement work.
Duties include but not Limited to -
" To provide administrative support to the court and to ensure monetary orders are enforced effectively.
" Use of Outlook, Word, and Excel. In house bespoke computer system. Use of Government tools to aid tracing. Inputting case details, preparing & processing paperwork.
" Carrying out sanctions in accordance with Courts Act. Undertake Telephone Debt recovery work to assist effective enforcement of orders.
" Making effective decisions regarding defaulters next course of enforcement. Answering verbal and written enquiries and responding to correspondence.
" Undertaking general administrative duties such as photocopying, faxing, telephone, filing, archiving, printing, and post. Liaising with other agencies and other interested parties to collect information, check facts, communicate, or enforce judicial decisions, give advice on the completion of forms or court procedures etc.

" The role is subject to 3 years` referencing and a Standard DBS check.
