This appointment is Health Board wide, with your principal place of employment being Glangwili General Hospital (GGH).
As a senior employee of the Health Board, the post holder will work in close co-operation with, and support other clinical, medical professional and managerial colleagues in providing high quality healthcare to the Health Board's patients.
This is an exciting time to join the department, with the hospital site identified as a dedicated Trauma Unit, the main hub being the Major Trauma Centre based at University Hospital Wales, Cardiff.
This is a replacement post being offered on a permanent basis.
Main duties of the job
To share the responsibility for the acute care of Trauma and Orthopaedics Patients.
To conduct clinical practice in accordance with contractual requirements within the parameters of the Division's and Health Board's agreed objectives.
To support the development and delivery of a sub specialty service in hospital and in the community.
To develop and deliver a comprehensive service in foot and ankle surgery within the HB and South West Wales region.
To take part in a whole Health Board multi-disciplinary approach to foot and ankle surgery and contribute to the regional South West Wales foot and ankle network.
To take part in Health Board and regional MDT for the delivery of diabetic foot care.
To work with specialist physiotherapists, specialist nurses and physician colleagues within the orthogeriatric service to provide clinical care for patients with frailty fragility fractures.

Essential
* Full GMC Registration and Licence to Practice
* On Specialist Register with GMC or CCT due within 6 months of interview date
* Or CESR or equivalent European Qualifications for Specialist Registration
* FRCS Tr and Orth
* Valid Certified Basic Life support skills
* Evidence of a Fellowship in Foot & Ankle Surgery
* Evidence of a Fellowship in the management of the diabetic foot
Desirable
* Appropriate Higher Degree e.g. MD, PhD or MSc or equivalent
* Evidence of a fellowship or clinical experience in the management of complex lower limb peri-articular trauma
* Previous experience at Consultant level in the sub-specialty of foot and ankle surgery.

* Broad based experience in Trauma and Orthopaedics
* Knowledge of UK hospital systems (or equivalent)
