The role of Technical Officer is an important position requiring excellent communication skills to connect the activities between teams based in the highway commissioning team/office. Good administrative and ICT skills are required to operate across the teams. Technical knowledge and training will be given for the successful candidate, with wider training available on offer by the council. Typical duties include Responding and distributing a wide variety of enquiries from the public and (strategic) partners. Liaising with structures team, streetworks, police and external bodies to co-ordinate abnormal load movements through the borough. Financial processing such as raising purchase orders, using the corporate software. Assisting the PROW team to maintain the legal records and maps of public rights of way. The making of Traffic Regulation Orders to temporarily divert or stop up a public right of way. Other general administration tasks such as filing and photocopying etc. We are looking for a positive, forward thinking, multi-tasker who has good administrative skills to enable them to hit the ground running. Good IT skills along with, excellent written and verbal communication skills and an understanding of financial processes would also be an advantage. An interest in maps and PROW would be an advantage as would knowledge of the local road network.
