Job overview
Mersey Care is one of the largest trusts providing physical health and mental health services in the North West, serving over 1.4 million people across our region. We offer specialist inpatient and community services that support physical and mental health.
We are looking to appoint an experienced candidate to join our dynamic Pharmacy Team, committed to developing and training staff within a supportive environment.
You will join our medicines management quality and governance team in providing medicines optimisation, quality improvement and support safe use of medicines across the Trust.
This post is fixed term to cover maternity leave and involves working within the Medicines Information and Formulary compliance team.
Main duties of the job
* Provide technical support to the Trust’s medicines management team.
* Respond to queries from pharmacy staff, healthcare professionals, service users, and carers.
* Perform literature, database, and internet searches to provide appropriate answers.
* Train and develop medicines management staff regarding medicines information.
* Develop and implement policies and procedures for the trust medicines information service.
* Liaise with the regional medicines information unit for service development.
* Develop and maintain medicines information related databases.
* Provide statistics to the regional medicines information unit.
* Oversee distribution of medicines information literature within the trust.
Person specification
Qualifications
* BTEC/NVQ level 3 in pharmaceutical science or equivalent
* BTEC/NVQ Level 3 in pharmacy service skills or equivalent
* Registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council
* BTEC/NVQ Level 4 in dispensing accuracy checking (or willingness to work towards)
* UKMi Accredited Medicine Information Technicians Training Scheme (or willingness to work towards)
* Good clinical practice (GCP) training
Knowledge/Experience
* Experience within pharmaceutical services and knowledge of procedures in medicines information and clinical trials.
* Experience of CPD and knowledge of NHS medicines management services.
* Clear understanding of relevant legislation and guidance.
* Experience in dealing with complex enquiries related to mental health services.
Skills
* Excellent organisational and IT skills.
* Ability to understand and respond to complex information requests.
* Ability to present written and verbal information clearly.
* Excellent interpersonal skills and problem-solving abilities.
* Ability to prioritise workload and manage time effectively.
