Mechanical Buyer
We are currently recruiting for a Mechanical Buyer for a well-established M&E contractor. Working Monday to Friday for £40k to £50k depending on experience.
Job Overview
Reporting directly to the Operations Manager, the Mechanical Buyer will oversee the procurement of all materials on secured projects. You must have great communication skills and be able to provide the site teams with the relevant information when asked.
Responsibilities
1. Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers to negotiate the best price and terms for goods and services.
2. Ensure procurement of materials is within budgets and given timescales in order to progress works on site.
3. Manage the supply chain to ensure timely delivery of products.
4. Identify potential new suppliers.
5. Resolve disputes and account queries between suppliers and the company.
6. Create, maintain, and update overall company documentation, specifically call-off schedules and procurement schedules.
7. Maintain order of the shared email inbox.
8. Process orders using correct product codes in Sage and send to relevant vendors.
9. Obtain quotes for day-to-day and bespoke items or client-specific products.
10. Check order value approval required and obtain where required.
11. Purchase from preferred suppliers, being mindful of supplier rebates.
12. Distribute orders to relevant vendors.
13. Track orders and delivery confirmation.
14. Advise requester on any orders where delivery or specifications cannot be met and suggest alternatives.
15. Resolve invoice problems.
16. Support Commercial & Estimating teams with general material costs and supplier details as requested.

Technical Skills
1. Ideally proven experience within the M&E industry and experience of working in a fast-paced project environment within the building sector.
2. 2+ years of experience working for a mechanical or electrical supplier within an M&E contracting sector.
3. Good general education - minimum of A Levels, on-site installation experience or on-the-job experience within a buying/selling capacity (e.g., Wholesaler).
4. Be a competent user of Microsoft packages, Excel and Outlook.
