DESCRIPTION
This is a permanent full-time role requiring flexibility to work shifts. Year-on-year, as we continue to grow, we need to work as smart as we can, to keep all our team members safe, fulfilled, motivated, and empowered. To help us achieve this, we're seeking a driven Health & Safety Technician. With your Bias for Action, we'll need you to step in and help drive health and safety culture in one of our Sortation Centres (SCs). Our Sortation Centres are the link in Amazon's rapidly growing business: they're where we manage our fast-moving shipments across the world. In this crucial health and safety position, you'll report into the Health and Safety Manager, as part of an evening/night shift role.
Key job responsibilities
1. Undertake risk assessments as required, while proactively following up on control measures until complete.
2. Complete daily metrics and callouts.
3. Take a Deep Dive into Sort Centre data, as you monitor recordable incidents on-site.
4. Leveraging your Auditor-level knowledge of Amazon's procedures and legal requirements, you'll advise associates and managers accordingly.
5. Become a subject matter expert in your specific level of Health and Safety competence, while staying vigilant and not disclosing any sensitive information of our team.
6. Consistently monitor your Sortation Centre, keeping an eye on compliance with Amazon's safety procedures.
7. Investigate accidents, near misses, and any incidents, as you establish root cause.
8. Update internal records regarding incidents, near misses, and accidents.
9. Undertake action plans to ensure continuing, sustained compliance with legislation.
10. Conduct yourself professionally at all times: you maintain confidentiality in matters involving safety investigations.
11. Flexibility: you're willing and able to cover non-traditional shifts, including nights and weekends, during peak periods.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
1. Health and Safety NVQ Level 3 or NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent).
2. Experience working with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
3. Minimum Intermediate level of English (B2) in written and verbal English.
4. Experience running metrics reports, analysing data to identify problems and root causes.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
1. Experience in logistics/operations/warehouse/customer-oriented environment, a plus.
2. Demonstrable ability to learn quickly, while closely adhering to new processes and procedures.
3. Demonstrate willingness to change, adapt, and innovate within the business.
4. You possess a meticulous level of sustained attention-to-detail.
5. You're able to work independently, at times under minimum levels of supervision, demonstrating your ability to organise and prioritise your time effectively to meet targets and deadlines.
6. You can work at all levels, coaching and mentoring others to work safely.
7. Great team player: you contribute to a positive and healthy team environment.
8. You bring plenty of drive, enthusiasm, and self-motivation with you each day.
