Work
Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.
What you’ll do at work
* To be able to program and operate electro discharge machinery
* To use CMM Machinery to check parts are precise, of high quality and accurate to drawing
* To have an understanding of the works order administration system
* To carry out maintenance on injection mould tools
* To be able to fit, test and trial new tooling
* To be able to use and interpret engineering data and documentation such as engineering drawings, technical data and inspection reports
* To be able to design appropriate jigs/fixtures and tooling using computer aided design
* You will be expected to be able to set up, operate and adjust/edit equipment settings as applicable to the machine tool being used
* When using CNC equipment, you will be expected to be able to produce, prove and edit programmes
* To gain an understanding of injection moulding techniques and best practices
* To be competent in tool setting
* Proficient in operating manual toolroom machinery such as milling, turning and grinding machinery
