At Teaching Personnel we are looking for a full time Lead English Teacher at a non-profit independent special school in Westbury to start asap.
This school offers a diverse curriculum with academic, vocational, and outdoor learning to re-engage students in education. Every day is a new beginning, focused on rebuilding confidence, self-esteem, and motivation through a personalized, supportive program. This school operates eight DfE-registered and Ofsted-inspected schools, providing tailored education for young people aged 11-16.
Roles and Responsibilities:
* Develop and implement a tailored English curriculum that meets the diverse needs of students with special educational needs (SEN).
* Deliver engaging and differentiated English lessons using various strategies and resources to support individual learning styles and needs.
* Regularly assess student progress, set learning goals, and adapt teaching methods to ensure all students make progress.
* Provide guidance and support to other teachers and teaching assistants in delivering English lessons and meeting SEN students' needs.
* Implement positive behaviour management strategies that support a safe, inclusive, and productive learning environment.
* Work closely with other staff, including SEN coordinators, therapists, and support staff, to ensure holistic support for each student.
* Lead training and development sessions for staff on effective English teaching strategies and SEN best practices.
* Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress, challenges, and achievements.
* Develop and manage resources for English teaching, ensuring they are accessible and appropriate for SEN students.
The successful educator will have:
* Qualified Teacher (QTS/QTLS/PGCE) preferred but other recognised teaching qualification considered
* Experience of teaching to secondary class/group
* Ability to prepare and deliver appropriate curriculum using a range of teaching styles and methodologies.
* Experience within an SEN setting an advantage
