As part of our continued investment in both our evolution and our people, we’re now recruiting for a new Operations Team Leader to join our team at our North Shields site.
So what's the mission?
Your mission is to lead an operations team (10+) and be responsible for all operational activities defined to your area, some of which include overall safe operation of plant and equipment, safety, quality, waste and OEE targets and people management.

You’ll support a zero-tolerance approach to breaches in safety standards, ensuring that everything (Pre-start checks, PPE, Lock off, behaviours, contractor activity) within the assigned department/shift is compliant with policies/procedures and associated site controls.
You will support the Area Operations Manager to exceed KPIs by ensuring that business objectives are cascaded through to the manufacturing teams, engaging the ‘hearts and minds’ of the company’s employees to create and sustain a pro-active culture in all disciplines across the business! You’ll be a team player and people person as you’ll be delivering team briefs/toolbox talks in a timely manner and spirit in which they are intended whilst ensuring that any initiatives are embraced and actioned in line with company guidelines.
Working 40 hours per week Monday to Friday, you will be responsible for the operation and will stand in for the Area Operations Manager when needed.
What are the mission-critical skills?
* Experience of operating in a medium/large manufacturing site with responsibility for a team of 10 or more employees
* Experience of operating in a traditional employee relations climate
* A knowledge & understanding of Overall Equipment effectiveness (OEE)
* Some experience of implementing continuous improvement/lean manufacturing techniques eg DMAIC, would be an advantage
* IOSH Managing Safely / NEBOSH General Certificate and other relevant qualifications eg ILM, Lean Six Sigma desirable
* Experience of maximising the potential of others including development and performance management
* Demonstrable experience of driving and improving site performance
