About the Role: As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and the school’s SENCO to provide personalised support for pupils with a wide range of special educational needs, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, speech and language challenges, and social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) difficulties. Key Responsibilities: Deliver one-to-one and small group support for pupils with identified SEN, in and out of the classroom. Adapt learning materials and strategies to meet each pupil’s individual education plan (IEP) or EHCP. Create a calm, structured, and supportive environment that promotes learning and emotional regulation. Collaborate with classroom teachers, therapists, and SEN professionals to ensure consistent support. Monitor student progress and provide detailed feedback to teaching staff and parents/carers. Encourage students’ personal development, self-esteem, and independence in everyday tasks. Support the implementation of behaviour management plans where necessary. Job Requirements: Previous experience working with children or young people with SEN in educational or care settings. A caring, enthusiastic, and resilient personality with a genuine commitment to inclusive education. Knowledge of SEN practices, including Autism support strategies and behavioural management. Excellent communication and team-working skills to liaise with staff, pupils, and parents. Ability to adapt to the needs of each student and handle challenges with sensitivity and professionalism. Qualifications in childcare, education, or SEN support are highly desirable. Have an updated CV ( covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps ) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one). Why Join GSL Education?
