Are you a scientist or engineer with a commercial mindset, who is brilliant at building relationships? As our Business Development/Technical Sales Manager, you will be responsible for the sales of equipment and materials for Energy and Material Processing Research, R&D, and quality assurance applications across the UK and Ireland. Along with your dedicated Sales Support Assistant, you will seek out new business opportunities while also nurturing and adding value to our existing customer base.
PI-KEM are a family-owned group who specialise in the global supply of specialist Material Processing Equipment and Advanced Materials. Our customers range from academic researchers and lab managers to manufacturers, and we pride ourselves on working collaboratively and enabling them to achieve their goals. With an innate curiosity, we constantly evolve our product range and explore novel applications for our products.
You will:
1. Drive sales: Exceeding revenue targets by effectively positioning PI-KEM as the go-to supplier for the products we provide.
2. Secure new business: Identifying and targeting potential opportunities and achieve new customer growth.
3. Build lasting relationships: By understanding our customers’ unique needs and providing the best solution for them.
4. Provide exceptional customer service: Utilising our deep understanding of science, engineering, procurement, and product customisation to ensure our customers have the right solutions for their research or manufacturing objectives.
5. Be a PI-KEM Champion: Representing us not only through direct communication and customer visits, but also at exhibitions, conferences, networking, and prestige, invite-only events.
6. Stay ahead of the curve: Keeping abreast of the latest trends and developments within next-gen energy and advanced materials.
7. Partner with industry leaders: Collaborating closely with our global manufacturing network to deliver exceptional quality, value, cost-effective solutions, and technical support.
You will have:
1. Proven sales success: At least 2 years of recent B2B technical sales experience preferably in equipment or academia focused sales. We would also welcome applications from early-career professionals suited to a Graduate Business Development Executive role.
2. Science or engineering background: A minimum of a 2:1 Bachelor degree in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemistry, or Physics.
3. Passion for change: A genuine interest in energy and material science, and a drive to contribute to groundbreaking discoveries.
4. Strong communication skills: The ability to build rapport, influence stakeholders, and effectively present our products.
5. Ambition and drive: A self-motivated and purposeful mindset focused on achieving your revenue targets.
6. An innately inquisitive brain: Allowing you to stay up to date with current scientific and technology developments.
7. Out of the Box Mindset: Can develop and execute innovative sales strategies that stand out from the norm.
8. Ability to travel: Being out and about is part of the role, and will mean time spent away from home.
What we offer:
1. Salary: A base of circa £42,000 plus an OTE of £52,000 and an uncapped bonus scheme dependent on gross margin achieved.
