Grounds Operative - Tractor Driver We have an opportunity for a Tractor Driver based in our Schools Grounds maintenance Team providing a service and delivering grounds maintenance to a range of customers both within Southampton and the immediate Hampshire area. The Grounds Operative - Tractor Driver is responsible for: Operating a variety of tractor mounted equipment, such as grass cutting decks, leaf blowers, and side arm flails and other ride-on and pedestrian machinery to maintain school playing fields within Southampton and Hampshire. Ensuring that all customers receive high quality, value for money grounds maintenance services that are delivered “right first time”. Working as directed by the Working Supervisor or Team Leader to undertake planned and reactive work programmes, ensuring that work undertaken complies with recognised performance standards. To carry out routine operator maintenance and safety checks on plant and equipment as required and report any faults or dangerous occurrences to the Working Supervisor. Responsibility for the security, correct usage and care of all vehicles, machinery, tools and equipment, completing written records of a routine nature, including Time Sheets, Vehicle Log Sheets etc. as required. To promptly rectify or report all defects, losses, damage, accidents, hazards and near misses to the Working Supervisor or any other designated person supervising the area of works. The post holder will be expected to maintain good working relationships with members of the public and other staff and contractors. Be customer focused to help achieve continuous improvement and innovation in service delivery. Successful candidates will require these essential qualifications: Certificate in Horticulture, NVQ Level 2 or above, or equivalent, and relevant Certificates and/or proofs of technical competence. Driving License – Category B E with Category “f” entitlement (agricultural tractor). Level 2 Award in Agricultural Tractor Driving and Related Operations (City and Guilds or equivalent) Working hours & conditions: 39 hours per week (37 paid plus 2 TOIL hours accrued) You will work a regular shift pattern from Monday to Thursday, from 7.30am until 4.30pm and Friday 7.30am to 3.30pm.
