The Welcombe Golf Club pride ourselves on offering an exceptional golfing experience along with a welcoming community, and a commitment to promoting the game of golf at all levels. We are currently seeking an experienced Director of Golf to lead and manage our golf operations.
The Director of Golf will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of golf operations at the club, including managing golf course activities, pro shop operations, member relations, tournaments, and maintaining the clubs reputation as a premier golfing destination. The ideal candidate will be a passionate, experienced leader with a strong background in golf operations with exceptional customer service along with being commercially savvy.
The Director of golf will work closely with all third parties to continue to grow golf revenue including all golf travel agents
Key Responsibilities:
1. Golf Day Management: Oversee the planning and execution of corporate, business, charity, and residential golf days, ensuring smooth delivery of all products and services.
2. Membership Management: Handle all aspects of golf membership, from liaising with the Accounts department on subscriptions to coordinating benefits and member applications.
3. Corporate Membership: Build and maintain relationships with current corporate members while actively seeking new members across the group
4. Revenue Generation: Assist in identifying and implementing strategies to improve golf-related revenue streams and provide technical expertise to address client needs.
5. Performance Monitoring: Track performance records and ensure departmental targets are met.
6. Team Management: Conduct yearly appraisals for your team, set objectives, and evaluate their performance.
7. Business Planning: Develop a business plan for teaching and fitting services, including marketing and sales strategies.
8. Reporting and Forecasting: Provide monthly reports and weekly forecasts against departmental targets.
9. Property Promotion: Promote the Welcombe Hotel and golf services externally, ensuring all promotional materials
10. Training and Development: Provide training and development to the team, maintaining company standards.
11. Operational Systems: Manage day-to-day operations, ensure accurate documentation, and control purchasing structures.
12. Staff Management: Monitor payroll, staffing levels, and ensure efficient rotas that align with business needs.
13. Customer Service: Maintain a positive and helpful attitude with members, guests, residents, and colleagues at all times.
Ideal Candidate Requirements:
Relevant Experience: At least 2 years of experience in a similar role within the golf industry.
Leadership Skills: Ability to manage a team effectively, provide training, and evaluate performance.
Operational Knowledge: Experience managing operational systems, including payroll, inventory, and customer service.
Sales and Marketing: Skills in sales, marketing, and business planning to drive revenue.
Technical Expertise: Knowledge of golf products, services, and instructional expertise.
Customer-Centric Attitude: Strong focus on customer service and relationship building, both internally and externally.
Additional Skills:
Communication Skills: Clear and professional communication with team members, members, guests, and the Directors.
Problem-Solving: Ability to address operational challenges effectively and swiftly.
Brand Standards: Uphold and implement company standards, creating Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for golf services.
Social Media Management: Contribute to social media content creation and input.
