Vacancy Details
Duration: This is a full-time opportunity, based at home with monthly travel to each of the dedicated occupational health centres located at Derby, Milton Keynes, & Birmingham.
Location: Birmingham New Street. This full-time opportunity requires an on-site presence, but flexible working patterns will be considered.
Band & Salary: Band 3B 46,701 59,589 subject to experience.

Brief Description
Who are we looking for?
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Lead Occupational Health Nurse to lead and coordinate our occupational health services across multiple sites within our vibrant regional clinic network. This role is pivotal in ensuring the highest standards of occupational health and safety are maintained, in line with Network Rail's esteemed policies.

What does the average day look like?
Key Responsibilities:
1. Team Leadership and Coordination:
Assemble and empower a talented team of occupational health nurses and technicians. Ensure optimal staffing levels and efficient daily clinical operations across multiple sites.
2. Compliance and Standards:
Uphold Network Rail's occupational health standards and policies. Manage occupational health hazards, including health surveillance, drug and alcohol testing, and medical fitness-to-work evaluations. Stay informed on legislative changes to ensure compliance.
3. Service Delivery and Improvement:
Partner with key stakeholders to review and enhance clinical service delivery. Provide authoritative technical advice on occupational health service delivery best practices.
4. Business Management and Reporting:
Deliver comprehensive business management information analysis and reporting services. Address organisational needs and contribute to informed decision-making.
5. Case Management:
Oversee clinical advice on short- and long-term sickness absence cases, including complex situations. Develop effective strategies for case management, rehabilitation, and redeployment.
6. Clinical Supervision:
Enforce rigorous clinical supervision of staff in adherence to the Nursing and Midwifery Council's code of conduct. Foster an environment of professionalism and care.
7. Quality Assurance:
Conduct quality audits and assurance activities for clinicians and clinics. Champion continuous improvement and excellence in service provision.
8. Training and Development:
Develop and implement innovative upskilling and training programs for staff. Enhance team performance and elevate the quality of care delivered.
Essential Criteria
1. Registered nurse on Part 1 of the NMC Register or Part 3 Specialist Community Public Health Nurse - OH
2. Postgraduate qualification in OH, and proven post-graduate Occupational Health experience of working in a safety-critical environment.
3. Experience of managing a team of occupational health resources
4. Knowledge of occupational health management and risk assessment processes
5. Experience working in the management of a clinical environment
6. Understanding of confidentiality and GDPR compliance
7. Travel within the regional location area is essential
Desirable Criteria
1. Budgetary management experience
2. Rail industry experience
