We are looking for an Operations Manager to join our central finance team. This is a key leadership role suited to a finance professional with aspirations to utilise their skills and experience to enable the world-class research delivered by our academic departments.

About the Role
Reporting to the Head of Research Accounts, this is a key role within central finance and will act as the point of contact for Academic departments on best practice for post-award management of research awards and non-research awards. Specifically, the role is responsible for ensuring that the policies and procedures surrounding the financial management and reporting to sponsors are compliant with the University’s and the Sponsor’s regulations and requirements.
Managing a team of 25, the role will ensure the correct maintenance of the research awards and non-research awards on Oracle Financials and will maximise the cash flow for the University by maintaining timely and accurate reporting to sponsors.
About You
1. Experience of managing a large, complex and dynamic team in a busy customer-focused environment. Ideally managing research or other major funding within a Higher Education environment, or of a complementary area of financial administration in a public sector organization.
2. A formal accounting qualification in financial management and education to degree level.
3. Proven and demonstrable skills in financial understanding and capability, including understanding and interpreting financial policies, regulations and reporting requirements.
4. Excellent communication and listening skills and a confident personality.
5. Tact, professional judgement, and the ability to interact positively and authoritatively with a wide range of stakeholders.
6. Proven leadership and teamwork skills.
7. High levels of personal effectiveness, particularly coordination, organisation, and the ability to ensure that deadlines are met.
