Planning Team Leader
Salary: £55,155 - £59,328 per annum

About the role
This is a fantastic opportunity to join a high performing Development Management team. Our Team Leaders play a vital role in the management of our area teams. As a Team Leader, you will be an experienced, proactive and highly competent development management professional, capable of ensuring agreed team plans and performance targets are delivered, and that a culture of putting residents first and continuous service improvement is maintained.
You will have line management responsibility for up to 6 members of staff who you will guide and mentor through regular case reviews and 1 to 1 meetings. You will also have responsibility for recruitment and performance management of your team, with the support and guidance of your Area Planning Service Manager.
You will play a major role in planning decision-making, being responsible for signing off delegated planning decisions and committee reports. You will also attend the Planning Committee to present planning application recommendations to elected members.
About You
Candidates should have a degree in Town & Country Planning, or equivalent discipline (such as geography, construction, architecture or design) and be a member of the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI) or working towards membership of the RTPI.
You will be expected to have prior significant experience of the end-to-end process of determining planning applications within a local government setting, including experience of successfully handling complex planning applications and related consents.
You must have experience of or the ability to manage a team working on complex demanding caseloads and be able to successfully manage competing demands to tight deadlines.
As a competent planning professional, you will have extensive knowledge of relevant planning legislation, policy, and best practice, as well as the ability to present high quality written reports and verbal evidence relating to planning matters.
