Are you dedicated to helping vulnerable individuals achieve independence? A National Charity is looking for a Housing Support Worker to support male and female tenants in Derby. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience in housing management and support work to make a positive impact on service users’ lives.
THE ROLE
As a Housing Support Worker, you will provide support to tenants in supported housing, empowering them to achieve independence and move on to suitable housing. Your key responsibilities will include:
1. Engaging with statutory and third-sector agencies to generate referrals for services.
2. Conducting initial assessments of service users’ needs and risks.
3. Designing and delivering person-centred support plans in collaboration with external agencies.
4. Maintaining regular contact with service users, acting as a role model and offering continuous support.
5. Carrying out health and safety inspections of properties and ensuring all housing is maintained to Decent Homes Standards.
6. Managing rent accounts, ensuring accurate records, and maximizing rental income by completing Housing Benefit paperwork.
7. Developing and reviewing move-on plans for service users, helping them identify realistic options for independent living.
THE CANDIDATE
To be successful in this role, you will have previous experience in housing support or a similar role. In addition, the ideal candidate will have:
1. Strong experience in housing management and support planning.
2. Knowledge of anti-social behaviour management and reporting procedures.
3. Proven ability to engage and motivate service users to achieve their goals.
4. Familiarity with health and safety procedures within housing settings.
5. The ability to liaise effectively with external agencies, including the Probation Service.
THE CONTRACT
1. 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 9 AM – 5 PM
2. 3-month contract, with potential for temp-to-perm
3. £16.09 per hour LTD / £13.72 per hour PAYE (inclusive of holiday pay)
