Senior Therapeutic Radiographer - Band 6 - Fixed Term for 9 months- 37.5 hrs
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced radiographer to join our dynamic team here at Torbay Oncology Centre. You will be HCPC registered. This is a fixed term position to cover a career break.
You will have a professional and practical attitude, working with confidence increasing your experience with advanced techniques and technologies.
Hours of work may be flexible, and will reflect the needs of the department. The person appointed will be required to work shift patterns to cover extended working days, machine service days in addition to bank holidays.
Main duties of the job
1. To provide safe and accurate highly specialised radiotherapy planning and treatment to patients to a broad range of tumour sites.
2. To support the team leader in the day-to-day management of patient workflow, assisting in the organisation and management of the clinical workload.
3. This post is competency driven across treatment delivery.
4. There will be a requirement to work flexibly as the service demands.
Job responsibilities
1. Responsible for the management of the daily workload on the linacs, deputising for the team leader when necessary.
2. Assesses patients suitability for treatment on a daily basis.
3. Participates in Multi-disciplinary team meetings as required.
4. Ensures the safety of patients, visitors and staff.
5. To be responsible and accountable for own actions in accordance with the Radiographers Professional Code of Conduct.
6. Provides advice and information to patients relative to tumour site and method of treatment in order to minimise the risk of side effects developing.
7. Works with colleagues to include research radiographer and physicists in evaluating and developing working practice.
8. To assist in the preparation and update of documentation in accordance with ISO9001:2015 within the Quality Management System.
9. Comply with all treatment related record keeping as specified in the quality assurance documentation.
10. Ensures that a permit to work is in place and undertakes daily quality assurance checks on the accelerators.
11. Acquires transit dosimetry data for treatment verification.
12. Individuals Personal Development Plan to be discussed and agreed.
13. Undertake any additional duties which may become necessary to maintain or improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the service.
Person Specification
Essential
* DCR(T) or BSc (Hons) Therapy Radiography Completion of Preceptorship period or appropriate previous experience at band 5. HCPC Registered.
Desirable
* Audit Training, Experience of working in the NHS.
