We are currently seeking an experienced Quarry Manager based at our Dowlow Quarry, Buxton for the position of Phase 1 (Quarry Operations Manager).
In the role, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient management and operation of the busy quarries in line with the Quarries Regulations 1999, covering the production of gravel aggregates.
Key Responsibilities
* You will demonstrate a sound knowledge of crushing and screening using static plant, maintenance activities on both fixed and mobile plant, experience in blasting, and can effectively plan and organise quarrying operations.
* You will be responsible for implementing planned preventative maintenance schemes, monitoring and reducing energy consumption, ensuring continuous improvement of quarry operations, and safely managing teams of Breedon staff & contractors.
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
Ideally you will hold an QCF level 6 (equivalent NVQ level 4/5) in Health, Safety & Environmental management within the extractives industry; possess good leadership skills to promote a positive team working; communicate effectively with other functions within the business.
You will have experience of holding a regulation 8.1 appointment in previous roles, as well as proof of competencies relating to that appointment.
To be successful, you must be comfortable with a hands-on-role to drive forward our health and safety culture as well as being focussed on the needs of our customers.
Safety will comprise a key element of the role, you might also be required to conduct risk assessments and health and safety inspections and to demonstrate leadership in safety.
An important element of the role will involve administrative duties, from writing reports and updating records to procurement and budget control.
An ability to plan and organise work in a time efficient fashion is critical.
The ideal candidate will have background in a relevantindustry, with a strong focus on safety and interpersonal skills.
The successful candidate will have a flexible, proactive and versatile approach to work. You will have an energetic “hands on” approach and the ability to anticipate problems and consider a solution and the ability to negotiate and work collaboratively with colleagues on both a formal and informal level.
This position is ideal for a highly motivated person with experience of plant operations.
