Job Introduction
Do you have a passion for creating great output in a way that engages audiences across all platforms? BBC Look North is looking for journalists with the skills to tell compelling stories and make engaging content.
Main Responsibilities
* Plan, report and produce programme content, assisting senior producers and editors to deliver impactful stories for all platforms.
* Source and create original journalism.
* Use a range of video, audio and digital equipment to research, write, assemble, edit and deliver outputs to the highest professional standards.
* Present content on radio, TV or online.
* Exercise editorial judgment in developing story ideas and producing accurate journalism.
* Liaise closely with team members and other departments to ensure best practices are upheld.
* Lead within a team setting or on specific journalism projects as appropriate.
* Tailor news treatments for different audiences.
* Prioritize and plan activities considering deadlines and resources.
* Produce engaging packages through a range of production skills.
* Deliver to tight deadlines while maintaining high editorial standards.
* Carry out duties in accordance with the BBC health and safety policy.
Are you the right candidate?
* Significant recent experience as a journalist, with a good knowledge of production techniques.
* Sound editorial and policy decisions based on a clear understanding of the BBC’s news agenda.
* Ability to use technology to gather material for broadcast.
* Understanding of effective team dynamics.
* Effective planning and organizing skills.
* Ability to write creatively and adapt content for various media.
* Flexibility and adaptability to sustain performance under pressure.
* Understanding of health and safety procedures in broadcasting.
