This is an exciting opportunity for an Accredited Financial Investigator to join SEROCU’s Proactive Economic Crime Capability, which comprises several teams targeting illicit finances and money laundering. This role is within the CRiSP Team, which proactively targets criminal assets using Civil Recovery in Summary Proceedings powers.
This role involves adopting Cash and Listed Assets investigations from seizures made at South East Ports. You will work closely with various law enforcement partners (including Border Force, NCA, and others) dealing with both reactive seizures and proactive operations.
You will be conducting standalone civil recovery investigations (which will occasionally include Account Freezing and Crypto Wallet Freezing orders), requiring a strong investigative mind-set. Work will involve assisting in operations and outside enquiries when required, making applications to courts, analysing financial material, producing evidence, and preparing court files.
We are looking for an adaptable and driven individual who takes a proactive approach to disrupting organized crime groups. The candidate must be highly motivated and able to work both closely with other team members and, at times, independently.
You will also need strong relationship-building skills, as partnership working is key to the success of the team. Whilst the majority of the work is office hours based, on occasion you will need to work outside these hours to support operations both at Gatwick and other SE Ports, as well as travel to court. You may also be required to perform an on-call function (telephone-based) to support partners when making out-of-hours seizures.
You must display the highest ethical standards and integrity. Ideally, we are looking for a fully accredited Financial Investigator (FIO, FI, Confiscator, CRiSP, Restraint, S.47), but if not, you will be required to complete the relevant entrants exam and training and thereafter submit the respective PDP to attain full accreditation with the NCA Proceeds of Crime Centre (PoCC). You will be asked to demonstrate flexibility regarding working hours in line with operational demand and occasionally this may require working away from home. For this reason a full UK Driving Licence is essential to the role. You will also be required to perform on-call arrangements for immediate response as required across the South East region.
Due to the nature of our work, security is of paramount importance to us and therefore it will be necessary to pass and maintain vetting level SC together with a number of enhanced security checks. In order to achieve this, you must be a British National and have resided in the UK for the past five years. Exemptions may apply for overseas or other diplomatic service (with HM Government), and studying abroad.
