Work Responsibilities
The purpose of this role is to maintain manufacturing policies and procedures which ensure full compliance with all relevant regulations and standards pertaining to the operation of the Maturation warehouses in Bathgate.
To ensure the Maturation team contributes to the development of the business by achieving a lowest cost product with highest quality.
Manage the Maturation team so that the maturing whisky stocks stored on site are managed appropriately and carry out other tasks as directed.
Develop and coach the team members to drive performance and grow themselves within the business.
The person needs to be flexible, in terms of time and approach, to the ever-changing business needs of the Company and our customers.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage day-to-day activities of Maturation teams at Starlaw Distillery, ensuring compliance with all regulatory and departmental requirements.
* Produce and review Maturation KPIs and statistics daily & monthly.
* Ensure compliance within the Maturation warehouses to regulatory standards, such as but not limited to, COMAH, the British Retail Consortium (BRC) standard, etc. as detailed in our policies and procedures, particularly our Health and Safety policies.
* Ensure staff in Maturation (permanent, temporary & contractor) are fully trained & instructed in all job requirements to ensure the quality of our products and they perform their job roles in a manner consistent with our quality policies.
* Be a role model and coach for the other staff in Maturation and guide them towards achieving the company goals.
* Manage the day-to-day people issues of the Maturation staff and deal with any staffing issues.
* Regularly hold team meetings and engage with the Maturation team so they are aware of ongoing work requirements and they have an opportunity to raise any issues.
* Flexible approach to take account of changing business needs.
Experience Required
* Warehouse experience, ideally spirit handling within the Whisky industry.
* Experience of managing people.
* Sound knowledge of Stock management, Good Manufacturing Practices and HACCP principles.
* Knowledge of DRAMs, DRAMScan, Flowlog and Microsoft Office.
Desirable
* Previous experience with EMCS/HMRC procedures is desirable.
* Experience in the Brewing or Distilling Industries.
