To provide a high-quality DEXA scanning service in conjunction with other practitioners and health care professionals. Leadership & Management: To encourage the highest professional and technical standards in all staff using personal example and constructive supervision. To be responsible for leading and co-ordinating the team in an allocated area. This will involve being able to cope with frequent interruptions from both colleagues and other medical and non-medical staff of the Trust. Communication: To offer advice and guidance to patients, carers and other health professionals on radiology procedures, specialised procedures and ionising and non-ionising radiation issues taking due consideration of the patients condition. Assess specific communication needs of individual patients. To anticipate where communication difficulties might make completion of relevant documents. Teaching, Training & Research: To participate in the induction and training of new staff, assistant practitioners, and student radiographers. To supervise, assist and support radiographers and medical staff training in specialist areas. To undertake formalised assessments of staff training in the specialised area ensuring staff competency. Professional role responsibilities: Practicesin accordance with the professional, ethical, and legal codes of the Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC), the Society of Radiographers Professional Code of Conduct and Trust and NHS protocols and guidelines. Maintain a commitment to professional development and a high level of technical and theoretical skills ensuring a CPD portfolio of evidence is kept up to date.
