We are currently looking for a Compliance Controller to join our team based in Lutterworth with some flexibility to travel to other sites.
This is a permanent role Monday – Friday (with flexibility around peak periods) with a salary of up to £37,000 dependant on experience.
Tasks and responsibilities:
Main purpose of job
* To promote a positive and proactive approach to safety; creating and championing safe working practices and ensuring that safety is the business’ number one priority.
* To ensure compliance with Health & Safety legislation and company policies relating to Health & Safety.
* To ensure all company Health & Safety procedures are implemented and actioned effectively.
Key tasks
* Monitor and implement Health & Safety compliance across the UK business.
* Undertake inductions and site tours for new employees, visitors, contractors and agency employees.
* Review existing risk assessments and create new risk assessments.
* Monitor and review current and new policies and procedures related to Health & Safety.
* Control hazardous substances on site, including risk assessments, waste disposal and the COSHH register, ensuring all relevant information is available upon request.
* Implement safe operational procedures and ensure these are delivered to the workforce and understood.
* Undertake regular workplace inspections, report findings and actions, including action follow up.
* Ensure adequate resource is available across all departments and shifts to cover first aid & fire wardens.
* Lead in-house training with employees, managers & team leaders with regards to Health & Safety.
* Ensure working practices are safe and comply with current legislation.
* Facilitate safety campaigns, safety briefs, safety alerts, safety stand downs and event sharing in a consistent and relevant manner.
* Maintain records of inspections, reports, findings and ensure any actions from these are closed out once complete.
* Maintain records of incidents, accidents and near miss reports and ensure the tracker is updated.
* Investigate incidents, accidents and near misses promptly and implement actions and controls to reduce reoccurrences.
* Support managers and team leaders with investigations of incidents, accidents and near misses.
* Keep up to date and maintain knowledge of all Health & Safety Legislation related to our business needs.
* Facilitate & Chair Health & Safety committee meetings, recording minutes and ensure actions are carried out.
* Assist with uploading data at site level for statistical reporting.
* Engage and communicate effectively with all stakeholders, management and employees.
* Attend bi-monthly SLT meetings to update the leadership team on site health & safety matters.
* Assess the suitability of PPE requirements and ensure standards are maintained.
* Support Facilities in the engagement of suitable contractor services, monitor onsite contractors and ensure they carry out work safely.
* Coach & Mentor Health & Safety representatives.
* Review, monitor & Coordinate business continuity, emergency response, and crisis management plans.

* IOSH Minimum.
* NEBOSH Level 3. Or working towards.
* Dangerous Goods.
