Marty is a 2 years and 11 months old, 7kg, jackapoo. i am looking for someone to stay in my home from the morning/early afternoon of the 23rd january until i return on the evening of the 27th january (5 days). marty is a highly energetic dog who is also very intelligent. this means he requires reasonably long walks and mental enrichment. he usually has two walks a day, one in the morning and later afternoon for an hour each. he has two meals a day which are home made and will be readily made for his carer to put out for him at around 10am and 6pm each day. he likes to sit on the sofa and he also sleeps in the bed with his human. on walks he can pull initially but he calms down once you get into the walk. he is reactive to bigger dogs and puppies as he is quite nervous around them. he gets along with most other poodle cross dogs and small dogs. i would ask that he be kept on lead during his walks, for the entirety of his care. he will not go out in rainy weather. he enjoys playing fetch with a ball, the more squeaky the better. he also likes to play tug of war and he likes hunting for hidden treats indoors and outdoors too. he also has many enrichment puzzles. he can be destructive with his toys, pulling the stuffing out or chewing on any toy with rope material, therefore i tend not to leave these out when i am not playing with him. he can also be destructive with home items such as cushions or blankets/throws. he likes to take them in his mouth and sometimes even chew them. if he starts to do this, i usually take the item away. or he does now the command ‘leave it' or ‘no' and he will either replace it with a toy himself or you may have to entice him with the toy as a better alternative. he usually responds quickly to this. if he does not listen to the command, please take the item off him if you feel safe doing so as he may growl at you. i will be more than happy to discuss marty in more detail with anyone who is interested. thank you.
