Job Title: Mechanical Fitter (Engine Builder)
Location: Burton-on-Trent, Staffordshire
Duration: Contract (6 months min)
Hours: 7am till 5pm Monday to Thursday and 7am till 1pm on a Friday.
Note: Own transport recommended due to location.
Job Purpose:
This role involves the refurbishment of engines and similar equipment used in the rail, marine, and industrial sectors.
Key Responsibilities & Activities:
1. Responsible for ensuring your own health and safety and that of others, promoting a positive health and safety culture within the workplace.
2. Ensure all health and safety obligations are met, and company policies are adhered to.
3. Report any safety concerns, hazard observations, accidents, and incidents by the end of that shift to allow full investigation and prevent re-occurrence.
4. Strip and rebuild all the mechanical components of an engine, as per the work instruction.
5. Work to OEM manuals.
6. Read and interpret assembly specifications and manuals to plan assembly and build operations.
7. Verify conformance of parts to stock lists, using measuring instruments such as calipers, gauges, and micrometers.
8. Liaise with other business units to complete tasks.
9. Adhere to strict deadlines.
10. Accurately complete documentation to the Company's standards.
11. Ensure that waste is disposed of in the correct manner.
12. Mentor trainees/apprentices when applicable.
13. Report any near misses.
14. Comply with Company and statutory Quality, Health & Safety, Environmental, and HR policies and procedures.
15. Report any failures/faults identified.
