Job Title: Infotainment Validation Engineer (925)
Location: Cranfield
Salary: £29.00 per hour
We are recruiting for an Infotainment Validation Engineer to join a globally recognised automotive company in Cranfield. This is a long-term contract role, with the opportunity for the contract to run for several years.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Validate infotainment electrical systems, including navigation and audio systems, both on the bench and in-vehicle, ensuring compliance with design/test standards, specifications, and regulatory requirements.
2. Conduct interoperability testing of connected systems for functionality, performance, and reliability.
3. Develop and execute test plans to align with project milestones and design goals.
4. Create testing procedures, scenarios, and report test results to design sections and upper management.
5. Confirm vehicle specifications and necessary test parts for validation, arranging vehicle transportation when required.
6. Support root cause investigation and data logging for vehicle concerns.
7. Provide technical support and software management for the manufacturing plant and test fleet.
8. Occasionally assist with market investigations.
9. Manage suppliers, technicians, and guest engineers during validation activities.
10. Prepare and deliver test reports, investigation reports, and test plans in line with vehicle development schedules.
11. Help maintain the quality of infotainment systems, ensuring validation is completed within project milestones.
Qualifications & Experience:
1. Degree qualified in a relevant discipline.
2. Strong knowledge of software programming and software quality assurance.
3. Experience with software application into vehicle ECUs, including flashing, coding/configuration, and calibration.
4. Familiarity with regional and regulatory requirements for global markets.
5. Ability to risk assess software modifications and develop appropriate test plans.
6. Experience with validating multiple software versions and managing validation activities simultaneously.
7. Understanding of network communications and bus principles (CAN, LIN, Ethernet).
8. Proficient with tools such as CANalyzer, CANoe, Matlab, or similar, for data capture, analysis, and executing test procedures.
9. Experience with offboard telematics systems such as servers, network providers, and commercial software applications.
10. Competent with system circuit diagrams and identifying electrical connections.
11. Familiarity with problem-solving tools and techniques like Kepner Tregoe or SixSigma.
12. Proficient in using digital oscilloscopes and basic electrical test equipment.
13. Experience in automotive electrical and electronic system development, having completed at least two vehicle developments or demonstrating equivalent experience.
14. Ability to travel abroad, typically for a few days to two weeks, but occasionally for longer durations or at short notice.
15. Competent in PC applications, including Microsoft Excel and Project.
16. Ability to prioritise and multitask between multiple projects simultaneously.
