We are continuously looking to improve and further develop our sewer asset teams throughout the region. With this in mind, we have a great new opportunity for a Sewer Asset Surveying Technician to join our dynamic Sewer Asset team.
This role will see you working throughout our region which covers Dorset, Somerset, Bristol, Wiltshire and parts of Gloucestershire and Hampshire.
What you'll do
As the Sewer Asset Surveying Technician, you will report to the Project Manager and will be supported by the Supervisor and Task Controllers.
Within this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the sewer asset survey work of our staff and contractors is prearranged to ensure the best possible efficiencies and success rate.
For our teams to perform the necessary surveys, you will regularly be liaising with a range of stakeholders, ranging from farmers and landowners to Network Rail and local Highway authorities.
You will coordinate and balance job types from multiple sources ranging from customer-driven work to engineering support and network management requirements.
Working independently is a big part of this role to ensure that all customer, KPI and performance targets are either met or exceeded.
Duties you can expect in this role include:
* ensuring all in-house systems are kept up to date with current progress and communications
* processing third-party private land entry and environmental permits
* liaising and planning of works with internal crews and external contractors
* organisation of enabling works involving other departments
* traffic management and permit planning and implementation
* facilitating works on or within close proximity to live railways, watercourses and motorways
* assisting with forecasting of projected spend against various budgets (working with Sewer Solution Manager, Project Manager and Supervisor)
* pre-commencement site meetings with internal crews, external contractors and third parties.
What you'll need
To be successful in this role, it is essential that you are an adaptable and effective communicator as you will be dealing with a range of stakeholders varying in seniority about works taking place on their premises.
Alongside this, you will also be collaboratively working with internal/external workforces to perform the necessary surveys.
Planning and highly credible communication skills are critical to this role. You'll need to be a clinical planner so that when our field teams arrive on site, they can move forward with performing the necessary sewer asset surveys.
Differing levels of experience will be considered, although you will ideally have knowledge of planning CCTV surveys and sewer cleaning. NRSWA supervisor accreditation and good knowledge of highway permitting would be helpful but not essential.
You will need to have excellent organisational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to meet tight deadlines and work well as an individual and as part of a team.
You will need to be PC and systems literate with the ability to use multiple IT systems. This can be a time-critical role, so you will need to be able to work well under pressure.
Due to the remote nature of this role, it is essential that you hold a full clean UK driving licence.
What you'll receive
* Total pension contributions up to 20%.
* Career progression and professional development opportunities.
* 25 days' holiday rising to 28 with length of service.
* The opportunity to buy up to ten days' holiday and sell up to five every year.
