The MEH Alliance programme is accountable for full lifecycle delivery of the main MEH installation works at Sizewell C (SZC). The MEH programme scope includes the on-site installation of all pipes, electrical kits, and HVAC systems in the whole power plant, with the notable exception of the main coolant system, the main control room, the turbine hall and the main power evacuation.
Purpose:
• To manage day to day the successful delivery of complex high value NEC3 design and supply contracts for SZC MEH Alliance.
• To manage the end-to-end delivery (EPCC: Engineering, Procurement, Construction and Commissioning) of a scope of Systems, Structures and Components (SSCs), ensuring that their scope is delivered Safely, to Quality, on Time and within Cost for their respective contracts/scope.
• Ensure planning and delivery are in accordance with all safety, quality, time and cost parameters to meet the needs of the Project. The Project Manager reports directly to the Ventilation Senior Project Manager and is responsible for all activities associated with the full life cycle delivery of contracts assigned to them.
• Support the mobilisation of the supplier for the Sizewell C Classified HVAC contract, including support to the securing of the subcontract supply chain.
• Support the development and application of the bulk supply strategy, to initiate the tender process and secure supply chain support to these activities.
• Manage a matrix team of other disciplines forming the project delivery team.
Accountabilities:
• Take responsibility for delivering a defined scope for engineering and procurement activities.
• Be responsible for coordinating the multi-disciplinary team to provide the necessary input to the contract delivery.
• To manage the relationships with Tier 1 and Tier 2 suppliers.
• Prepare with the multidisciplinary team the ITT packs required to procure equipment supply contracts (terms & conditions, contractual appendices and technical specifications).
• Manage internal interfaces (between contracts and systems) and external interfaces (between programme scopes) to ensure a coordinated approach to design and delivery
• Manage early engagement with stakeholders (including equipment suppliers) to identify obsolescence issues and other risks to replication
• Ensure that lessons-learnt and knowledge-capture are practiced as business as usual
• Define the work scope to be delivered within the contract or package of work and the interfaces to the other elements of the programme
• Drive the delivery of the contract or package activities to ensure they are delivered safely, on time, to budget, meeting business & technical requirements
• Ensure that contract or package contractual requirements are fulfilled
Minimum Qualifications/ Experience:
• Experience of the pre-tender and tender stages of procuring contracts for the design, manufacturing and/or installation of industrial equipment.
• Experience of project management/supply management of NEC3/4 contracts.
• Good understanding of the complexity of major projects, including interface management between scope areas
• Experience of managing multi-disciplinary delivery teams and successfully coordinating multi-disciplinary design/procurement work and driving design/procurement teams to deliver on time.
• Project management or project engineering experience, from concept to handover.
• Background in mechanical, electrical, process, systems or civil engineering for large industrial plants.
• Excellent communication skills in client-facing and contractor-facing situations
• Manage engineers, consultants and other advisors throughout large and complex projects
• Demonstrate specific success in managing / developing:
• Engineering design, contract and field execution strategies for project delivery,
• Multi-discipline EPCC projects,
• Procurement and management of complex contracts,
• Control of costs; risk; schedule and change and proficient in the use of Earned Value tools,
• Close out of commercial claims and the associated negotiations.
Additional Qualifications/ Experience:
• Previous engineering or project management experience in the nuclear industry.
• Formal project management qualification.
• Chartered Engineer qualification.
• Direct experience of procuring equipment or installation contracts for nuclear power stations.
