About us
The Misbourne is an 11-18 mixed school single-academy trust in the picturesque village of Great Missenden in the heart of the Chilterns. We have over 1100 students on roll, including a successful and growing Sixth Form. We are proudly non-selective and inclusive, ensuring that we live and breathe our values: we are a community that values learning, promotes kindness and strives for excellence in all we do. We are the Lead School for Careers in Bucks.
Our staff tell us they genuinely feel like part of a team; a team who are striving to help each student flourish both academically and personally. As our greatest asset, we place great emphasis on staff wellbeing evidenced in our Wellbeing Charter.
Excerpts from our successful 2022 Ofsted inspection include:
* Pupils told inspectors that the clear and fair behaviour system helps them to behave well.
* Relationships between staff and pupils are strong.
* Pupils’ conduct around the school is orderly and calm.
* Pastoral care puts the child at the heart of everything the school does.
We can offer you:
* An academy that puts wellbeing at the top of their priorities, evidenced by our Wellbeing Charter.
* Students who are a pleasure to work with.
* Great training and development opportunities.
* An experienced, friendly, and collaborative team of staff.
* A fortnightly ‘Flexi-PPA’ with a late start (10.10am) or early finish (1.30pm) and annual personal ‘Headspace Day’.
* A two-week October half-term.
* A centralised behaviour system with visible and supportive leadership.
* Free access to our own fully-fitted gym (subject to opening hours).
* Cycle to Work Scheme.
* Free on-site parking.
Our values at The Misbourne for both students and staff are learning, kindness and excellence; these permeate everything we do, but start with our staff. If you join our staff team, you will be part of a caring, kind and supportive group of professionals who really do share a sense of belonging and camaraderie.
As a member of our Misbourne English team - which consistently achieves good progress and results at KS4 and 5 - you will benefit from:
* A fully planned and resourced centralised curriculum across all subjects, meaning we do not expect teachers to go home and do individual planning.
* Regular calendared development time to collaboratively plan and talk about teaching, develop professionally and reduce workload.
* An academy with high regard and value placed on its staffing body.
* A strong English department with a curriculum which develops engaged and well-behaved students to be creative, articulate, imaginative learners, confident and secure in their opinions and thoughts.
We are looking for someone who could play a part in helping us achieve our vision of learning, kindness and excellence for every student. We would love to work with you if you are hungry to grow and learn and have a keen interest in becoming the best teacher you can be, by building effective relationships and instilling in students the same love of English that you yourself will have.
The Misbourne is an aspirational and friendly place to work where every student and member of staff is a valued member of our community. Whether you are starting out in your career or looking for your next challenge, our English department has a breadth and depth of experience, with colleagues who thrive in a hard-working and innovative team built over many years. With strong and consistent leadership you can be assured of a genuine commitment to supporting your day-to-day practice and long-term professional development. We are looking for potential - to develop you into the teacher or middle leader you want to be.
About you
We believe that through clarity of vision, collaboration and dedication, we can achieve great things for our young people and for the staff who join us on our journey.

‘To develop world-class students who have the belief in themselves that anything is possible and lead happy and successful lives.’
