2 x Non-Executive Directors for Exeter Chamber of Commerce

The Exeter Chamber of Commerce is seeking two experienced business leaders to join the Board as Non-Executive Directors. Sector specialisms required are Property (agency) and Academia/Higher Education. These are a unique opportunity to influence the strategic direction of the Chamber and represent the interests of a diverse member base.
Key Responsibilities:
* Support the Chair and Vice Chairs, ensuring that the highest standards of governance are applied to managing the performance of the Chamber’s activities and representing the interests of members.
* With the Finance Director to ensure appropriate financial oversight is maintained in the delivery of services by Exeter Chamber and that activities/events are delivered within the parameters agreed in the Business Plan.
* Act as an ambassador for the Exeter Chamber Board, representing the Board at events and with member interactions/comms.
* Ensure the Board of Directors retains a focus on delivering to member requirements, meeting Chamber commitments and acts as a business campaigning voice on key issues for Exeter and the surrounds.
* Support membership recruitment through introductions to potential member organisations and/or individuals.
Time Commitment - A Director will be required to:
* Attend Chamber Board meetings (currently 11 per annum) – currently held 2nd Thursday of each month, 10.00 - 11.30am
* Where required, serve on subgroups of the Board attending relevant meetings, e.g., for particular events or initiatives (ExIST, Summer Bash/Impact Awards, etc.)
* Attend the Chamber’s Annual General Meeting
* Attend a minimum of two Chamber networking events per annum as a Chamber ‘Ambassador’
You will be/offer:
* A sector specialist – These roles require experience from a Property (Agency) or Academia/Higher Education sector.
* A successful senior business leader/owner who has held posts that encompass operational, functional, and strategic responsibilities.
* Genuine commitment to the Chamber network and an employee of a current member of Exeter Chamber of Commerce or Devon Chamber of Commerce.
* Excellent communication skills with strong personal and local professional networks.
* Drive, commitment, and availability to fulfil the necessary time commitments and responsibilities required.
