Job Overview/Summary
We're looking for an experienced Chef with a minimum of 2-3 years experience in restaurants in London or the Southeast. The ideal candidate should be a talented chef who can manage a section in a busy kitchen and be comfortable cooking to a high standard. We'll take care of the rest and train you under our team of eight to turn you into a Development Chef 'Gladiator' within a year or two.
This is a 40 hour week contract, with no weekend work!
Our kitchen is based in Southfleet (DA13).
Main Duties And Responsibilities
* Assisting in projects and end-to-end learning from our fantastic team.
* Being tech savvy with great formatting and presentation skills. The ability to research and present insights to relevant briefs.
* Commercially astute, understanding cost engineering, menu development to a target cost, and analytical approach to recipe writing.
* Sourcing and finding ingredients and suppliers to a brief. Confident in liaising with suppliers to secure the best price and specifications for the project.
* Menu and recipe development in line with internal briefs and guidelines.
* A great understanding of nutrition and developing dishes with our state-of-the-art recipe system to strict nutritional criteria.
* Producing training materials and specifications and setting up training plans to launch a project.
* Genuine ability to cook a diverse genre of cuisines to a high standard.
* Day-to-day upkeep of our development kitchen, ensuring everything is stocked and looking impeccable.
About You
* 2-3 years minimum of relevant experience in a professional kitchen environment.
* A minimum of CDP/Senior CDP level and able to manage most sections in the kitchen independently.
* Strong computer skills – ability to learn software and online systems quickly is crucial.
* Level 2 Award in Food Hygiene.
* Eager to learn and get involved in a supportive environment where everyone gets the best of each other.
Desirable
* A car or access to a suitable transport system to commute to work.
* Culinary art and food science background.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
