This is an exciting opportunity for a Specialist MSK Physiotherapist, Band 6 to support the MSK Outpatient Service within Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
Working within our Health Centres you would support a busy MSK outpatient service which receives a wide range of referrals including patient self-referral, GP and Secondary care.
As part of the established MSK team you will provide expert clinical intervention for these patients whilst supporting colleagues within the Physiotherapy team.
You will require postgraduate experience, including specialist experience in Musculoskeletal disorders.You will also have knowledge and experience of a wide range of approaches to the management of complex and chronic patients.

• To provide a high quality Physiotherapy service to patients with musculoskeletal dysfunction in clinics within community settings.
• To provide advice and education to other Physiotherapists and students in the management of Physiotherapy conditions.
• To take a role in the assessment and treatment of patients who may have complex and/or chronic presentations.
• To determine clinical diagnosis and Physiotherapy treatment and to maintain records as an autonomous practitioner

On-Call
Please note that senior positions (AFC band 8A or above) may be expected to participate in an on-call rota, if the role is predominantly operational.
• To undertake reasoned physiotherapeutic assessment of patients aged 16 and over with a range of musculoskeletal dysfunctions.
• To provide appropriate specialised physiotherapy treatment based on a sound knowledge of evidence based practice, using a range of manual, rehab and electrotherapy techniques, and formulation of individualised home management programmes.
• To evaluate physiotherapy intervention and respond appropriately to findings.
• To work autonomously without the direct supervision of physiotherapy colleagues within scope of practice and refer to peers and senior colleagues when appropriate.
• To ensure a high standard of clinical care for the patients under your management.
• To provide spontaneous and planned advice, teaching and instruction to relatives, carers and other professionals, to promote understanding of the aims of physiotherapy and to ensure a consistent approach to patient care.
• To be responsible for equipment used in carrying out physiotherapy treatment, and to adhere to trust policy, including competence to use equipment, and to ensure its safe use.
• Be an active member of the multidisciplinary team and liaise with them regarding patient management
• To supervise, educate and assess the performance of junior members of staff and students.
