This is what the position looks like:
As a production planner at Sonoco, you are at the heart of ensuring seamless production planning, using Logility APS for winders, drying, and finishing lines. A primary responsibility is to monitor and replenish finished goods (FG) stock, ensuring a steady inventory. Additionally, the position requires maintaining and correcting recut product orders, as well as planning the drying, wrapping, and repacking of PMC cores while keeping supervisors informed of any additional tasks. You attend and coordinate daily planning task, and update routings based on performance data. CSR’s of late or potential late orders? You immediately notify them. And communicate issues with the Quality team, generating weekly and daily machine forecasts to optimize production capacity.
Transport planning? You're the one making it happen! You maintain and update the weekly transport log and coordinate with haulers for bookings and updates. With carriers and FLT drivers, you share the daily transport schedules. Furthermore, you arrange customer delivery bookings and process delivery notes for invoicing. Additionally, tracking delivery notes and associated costs in the transport log is crucial for maintaining accurate records and supporting the accounts team.
But this is not all – the opportunities extend even further. You review and correct WIP value reports daily and inform team Accounts for job closures. Managing parent stock for recut machines is also a key responsibility, ensuring that stock levels are efficiently maintained and available when needed. The position involves overseeing quarantine and loose stock. Besides that, you conduct monthly FG inventory counts and corrections. Collaborating with the Oracle and Accounts teams ensures that all data across systems is aligned and up to date, contributing to the system and data maintenance.

* You can enjoy 25 leave days plus Bank Holidays increasing to 28 days (additional days granted on completion of 10 years’ service, 15 years’ service, and 20 years’ service).
* You will get a smartsave pension operated by Legal and General, contribution amounts per request available.

What to bring?
* Educated to degree level in engineering in technical bias.
* At least five years’ experience in a production/manufacturing environment. And three years of experience in a similar role.
* Leadership ability, managing and leading teams, projects. With developed time management skills, with an ability to balance demand among various projects. In doing so, you have good project management skills, can understand complex situations, and apply simple and logic solutions.
* As a team player you are decisive, and action oriented. You are socially confident, a great communicator, supportive and consultative.
* You have a hands-on mentality and the intrinsic motivation to optimize for the best possible result.
