Job Title: Operations Manager
Salary: Circa GBP48,000
Hours: Full-time, Monday-Thursday, 6am-15:30pm

About the Role:
An Operations Manager plays a critical role in ensuring the smooth day-to-day functioning of a business. Their main responsibility is to implement effective methods that optimise company processes for maximum productivity. Key duties include enhancing performance, productivity, efficiency, and profitability within departmental operations by developing and executing efficient strategies.
They collaborate closely with other department heads, particularly senior business managers, to improve both the work environment and business processes. Their goal is to foster strong client relationships and ensure the continued success of business operations. The Operations Manager is also tasked with cultivating a positive and energetic workplace that encourages teamwork. To succeed in this role, they must demonstrate strong leadership, excellent problem-solving abilities, and effective communication skills.
Key Responsibilities:
* Ensure strict adherence to SHEQ policies without exception
* Promote a strong teamworking culture
* In collaboration with HR, manage staff to uphold company values and standards
* Ensure sufficient resources are in place to meet workload demands and deliver on schedules and operational activities
* Ensure all staff are appropriately trained and signed off
* Closely manage staff performance, time, and attendance
* Achieve and exceed people and plant efficiency targets, driving improvement through Continuous Improvement (CI) initiatives and regular Root Cause Analysis (RCA) led by Quality.
* Set and achieve all operational KPIs
* Minimise process deviations between day and night shifts through structured handovers
* Ensure production output adheres to Pym and Wildsmith’s quality standards, as well as customer-specific standards outlined in contracts
* Identify and rectify quality failures with minimal impact on operations
* Manage holidays and shutdown periods to align with the company’s operational forecast
* Meet or exceed On-Time In-Full (OTIF) delivery targets to customers
* Achieve 5S, Gemba, and standard schedule compliance
* Ensure efficiency, OTIF delivery, and timely resolution of shift investigations
* Continuously identify and resolve opportunities for operational improvement
Minimum Requirements:
* Strong understanding of automation and well-managed production environments.
* Proficiency in numeracy, literacy, and Excel.
* Familiarity with MRP systems and clear production planning.
* A structured approach to maintaining high-quality standards.
* Strong attention to detail, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
* Knowledge of inventory flow and production control processes.
* Ability to work independently and efficiently.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
