MalaceHR is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Building Automation Systems tech to join our team in Cambridge, MA.
1st shift, Monday-Friday. $40-44/hour, based on experience.
This critical role involves supporting the design, installation, programming, troubleshooting, and maintenance of building automation systems. The ideal candidate should have extensive knowledge of control systems, excellent technical skills, and a strong understanding of HVAC, electrical, and mechanical systems.
Responsibilities:
1. Design and Installations:
o Collaborate with Engineering Team to assist in design and implement specific information systems such as building automation, lighting controls, and video management platforms.
o Ensure compliance with industry codes, standards, and regulations during system installations.
2. Programming and Configuration:
o Develop customized programs and scripts for building automation systems.
o Configure and integrate various devices, sensors, and equipment within the system.
o Perform system diagnostics to identify and troubleshoot programming issues.
3. Troubleshooting and Maintenance:
o Conduct periodic inspections, testing, and calibration of building automation systems.
o Diagnose and resolve technical issues in a timely and efficient manner to minimize system downtime.
o Collaborate with the operations team to ensure optimal performance of systems and help address any performance degradation or inefficiencies.
4. Documentation, Monitoring and Reporting:
o Monitor, record, and dispatch alarms to critical areas and equipment.
o Help maintain detailed documentation of all projects, including system modifications, as-built drawings, and programming changes performed in-house and by vendor.
o Generate reports on system performance, maintenance activities, and recommendations for improvements.
Requirements:
* Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field OR relevant industry certifications along with substantial work experience.
* Experience with various control systems, including pneumatics, Wattstopper Lighting Controls, and Siemens Building Controls.
* Thorough understanding of HVAC, electrical, and mechanical systems in commercial buildings.
* Experience interpreting, modifying, and developing mechanical and electrical drawings.
* Proficient in programming and troubleshooting complex building automation systems.
* Proficient in administering systems within a Windows Server environment.
* Strong knowledge of industry codes, standards, and regulations related to building automation.
* Excellent problem-solving abilities and analytical skills.
* Ability to work independently on assigned tasks and as part of a team.
* Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with clients, engineers, and other stakeholders.
* Valid driver's license and ability to travel to client sites as needed.
