ADMINISTRATIVE RESPONSIBILITIES Ensure patient records are kept up to date and accurate and recording is done in line with Trust policies and procedures. TEACHING & TRAINING RESPONSBILITIES Promote an effective learning environment. Clinically support staff in achieving their work based competencies. Act as a mentor / preceptor to junior Nursing staff. In role of mentor / preceptor, review staff performance and address issues of poor performance / competence. Continue to develop own knowledge through training, education and professional updates. LINE MANAGEMENT/SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES Participate in building a high profile for your clinical area within the Trust. Report act upon and investigate untoward incident / complaint / concerns, liaising with Matron/Ward Manager where appropriate. Create a climate conducive to the practice of a high standard of care, ensuring the safety and well being of staff, patients and visitors to the department, especially in relation to health and safety. Ensure effective and efficient use of both physical and financial resources. Promote health, safety and security of self and others and implement best practice in the Unit area. Represent your clinical area in internal and external meetings / committees as required. Act as an effective role model and demonstrate leadership skills.
