Reporting to the Head of HR Transformation, you’ll take sole ownership of developing, implementing, and overseeing ARAG UK's ESG & Sustainability strategies, to ensure they have a positive, meaningful impact on the environment and society, and that they align with our overarching strategic goals and the needs of our strategic business partners.
In this exciting, newly created role, you’ll be collaborating with cross-functional teams to develop and execute ESG & Sustainability initiatives and ensure stakeholders understand these strategies. You’ll ensure that we have a robust system for collecting, analyzing, and reporting on ESG & Sustainability business-related data and support our bid function by providing this data for upcoming bids and tenders.
Other key responsibilities will include:
* Engaging with our external stakeholder networking events to shape our UK ESG / Sustainability agenda.
* Continuously improving our carbon monitoring through data gathering, analysis, and reporting, working with business functions to drive our transition to net zero.
* Developing and maintaining our UK ESG / Sustainability policy.
* Identifying areas where we can improve our ESG / Sustainability practices.
* Supporting our Procurement function to embed ESG / Sustainability considerations throughout our entire supply chain.
* Monitoring the performance and commitment of our suppliers (up and down-stream), helping them to minimize their environmental impact.
* Leading our ESG / Sustainability Framework in line with legislation, best practice, and direction from our parent company.
* Encouraging conversations regarding Modern Slavery, Human Trafficking, and Supplier Diversity throughout the supply chain.
* Leading relevant forums and supporting and guiding our business function leads with their areas of ESG / Sustainability responsibility to ensure compliance.
* Developing ESG / Sustainability training and awareness programmes (including carbon literacy), with the ongoing support of our internal Learning & Development team.
You will have significant previous experience working in an ESG / Sustainability lead role, within a similar corporate environment (professional / financial services will be beneficial but not essential). You'll also have an excellent understanding of ISO 14001, TCFD, SDR, and EU CSRD and proven experience of shaping organizational culture through collaborating with colleagues in related management disciplines.
As this is a new, standalone role, you'll have the opportunity to shape and lead our UK ESG agenda, so you must be confident, self-motivated, driven, engaging, and adept at working collaboratively with and influencing senior stakeholders.
Other key requirements include:
* Detailed knowledge of the frameworks applicable to ESG / CSR / Sustainability, climate risk, and transition to net zero, and experience of their application.
* Confident and engaging facilitation skills to plan and direct meetings, training workshops, and exercises.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving ability.
* Highly structured and organized with exceptional interpersonal skills.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills and strong presentation skills.
* Ability to write policies that satisfy both legal and organizational requirements.
* Ability to influence technical and non-technical stakeholders, at all levels.
* Project management skills and previous experience of continuous improvement.
