Hours: Monday-Friday 9am-5pm, Part-Time Available
Contract: Permanent
Sector: Medical, Pharmaceutical & Scientific
About the Role:
As a Functional Assessor, your main task will be to assess individuals and how their disabilities or conditions affect their work life. Drawing on your clinical expertise, you'll listen carefully and take down each person's medical history before performing a physical examination. You'll then produce concise, accurate reports for the Department of Work & Pensions (DWP) so they can decide each person's eligibility for benefits.
The role involves meeting people both face-to-face and via telephone/video. But whether you connect online or in person, you'll be sensitive, compassionate, and able to ask the right questions while upholding best practice standards. You will have the time you need to make a precise assessment and give each person your whole attention. While you'll work unsupervised, you'll be part of a wider multi-disciplinary team - support is all part of the package.
About You:
1. An NMC Level 1 Registered Adult Nurse with a minimum of 12 months broad-based clinical post-registration experience within the past 5 years.
2. Experience of working with adults in a range of clinical situations, including Surgical, Medical, A & E, Community, and Practice Nursing.
3. NMC-registered with Continuous Professional Development on your CV.
4. Great oral and written communication skills, with the ability to negotiate and respond to a rapidly changing environment.
5. IT skills and experience of using a range of software.
6. Self-aware and focused on professional development.
7. Honest and able to maintain integrity and customer confidentiality.
8. Motivated to contribute to quality customer service, demonstrating empathy, respect, and sensitivity in assessment delivery.
9. Able to work on your own initiative to meet deadlines and standards.
10. Ready to work as a reliable and efficient team member and willing to support the multi-disciplinary team.
11. Eligible to work in the UK (sponsorship is not possible).
Benefits:
* A competitive salary.
* £1,000 after six months & £1,000 after 12 months (if approved).
* Quality-related bonus of up to 10% once approved and eligible.
* 25 days of annual leave + BH with an option to buy additional days or sell back.
* Annual registration fees paid.
* A comprehensive training programme.
* Full IT equipment provided for remote working.
* Regular 1-2-1 reviews with your manager.
* Up to 6% employer matched pension contribution.
* Access to a huge range of discounts and exclusive deals.
* Wellbeing, care, and support services.
Training:
You can look forward to four days of dedicated CPD per year, 1:1 clinical coaching with a dedicated coach, and communities of practice. There'll also be the opportunity to undertake professional and personal development with a wide range of training and coaching to expand your capabilities.
