This is an exciting opportunity for a senior Policy and Public Affairs leader to take on a strategic role at UW. You'll manage all aspects of regulatory developments that affect the energy market, helping us shape our business for the future.
Here's some of the key skills & experience we are looking for:
* A strong track record as a policy analyst or manager, within an energy company or within another regulated sector
* Experience advising senior leaders on regulatory developments, and the risks and options that arise as political objectives are progressed
* Public affairs experience would be desirable, or any similar experience of forming corporate positions for public communications
* A curious and analytical mindset
* The ability to be precise whilst also managing uncertainty
* Adept at written communications: reports, correspondence with official stakeholders and consultation responses
* Strength in translating complex issues into concise summaries
* Pragmatism with an ability to see commercial solutions
* Organised with a high level of attention to detail

As the Head of Energy Policy & Public Affairs, you will play a key role in the Energy Compliance and Regulation team which is part of our multi-service Legal and Compliance team.
You'll report into the Head of Energy Compliance and Regulation and have regular interaction with the Legal & Compliance Director and the Executive Leadership Team. A critical part of this role is engaging with external stakeholders in government, regulators and industry bodies.

As the Lead for energy policy at UW, you will help us achieve our strategic and commercial outcomes by analysing and advising on the constantly changing regulatory environment that energy suppliers operate in.
What you’ll do on a day-to-day basis:
* Helping UW achieve our strategic and commercial outcomes by analysing and advising on the constantly changing regulatory environment that energy suppliers operate in
* Tracking and analysing the policies, initiatives and projects developed by central government, the government department DESNZ and the regulator Ofgem; from early concepts right through to decisions that we will have to put into practice; be a key contributor to written advocacy output, such as when we issue consultation responses
* Representing UW on industry working groups and at the trade association Energy UK
* Advising senior colleagues and our executive on the status of developments, risks, options and opportunities
* Working with the Communications Team to develop a public affairs strategy, helping them form policy positions on the energy issues that are in the news and are of interest or concern to our customers
* Act as the Subject Matter Expert in the business to provide advice and guidance on energy policy
* Line management of the Energy Policy Analyst
