Job description
We are seeking an exceptional Engineering Leader with a strong bias towards action and impact to join our growing team. Our organisation follows an AWS-inspired structure, where each Product Line operates independently under a Single Threaded Owner (STO) at VP level. Within each Product Line, multiple Area Single Threaded Owners (Area-STOs) at Director level guide several Impact Teams. Each Impact Team is a cross-functional unit of approximately eight engineers, designers, and PMs who work autonomously, driving innovation through their own processes and methodologies.
This Engineering role will contribute to one of our various Impact Teams, which focus on different areas of our product. The specific team will be determined based on your performance and interests during the general interview process (see below). You will be crucial in shaping both the technical direction and the team culture, developing robust, scalable solutions that unlock our platform's next phase of growth. Success in this role means owning outcomes, driving execution, and delivering measurable impact within defined parameters.
As a leader, your primary focus will be creating outsized impact through others. You'll build and develop a high-performing team while ensuring technical excellence and sustainable delivery. Reporting directly to an Area-STO, you will work closely with engineers, product managers, designers, and stakeholders to drive our engineering initiatives forward.
Responsibilities
- Customer Value Focus: You prioritise customer value, and outcomes over rigid process adherence.
- Autonomous Decision-Making: You independently make rapid and courageous decisions to drive impact. You use data, examples, and use case validations to justify team expansions, topic prioritisation, and roadmap changes.
- Proactive Change Management: You embrace and advocate for change, prioritising company goals while supporting team and individual growth.
- Communication & Alignment: You increase transparency and alignment by effectively communicating information between teams, championing the team's achievements, and addressing concerns with leadership.
- Build a High-Performing Team: Motivate engineers through a culture of learning and development, implementing effective performance reviews and career development plans.
- Challenging Technical Decisions: You encourage and challenge technical decisions, architecture, and standards, engaging with team members at all levels and seeking expertise when needed. You ensure that the products developed are scalable and have low maintenance requirements.
- Business-Focused Leadership: Collaborate closely with product and business leaders to align technical solutions with business needs, ensuring the engineering team’s efforts directly contribute to the broader product strategy and customer satisfaction.
Qualifications
- Proven Experience: You have significant experience in engineering management with a strong track record in both technical and people leadership roles.
- Technical Proficiency: You have hands-on experience in software development and a solid understanding of modern technologies and best practices.
- Autonomous Leadership: You demonstrated the ability to make timely, high-quality decisions independently.
- Data-Driven Mindset: You have strong analytical skills to justify decisions with concrete data, and examples.
- Proactive and Positive: You approach change management proactively and you have a positive attitude towards supporting company goals.
- Inclusive Leadership: Your strong leadership skills give you the ability to foster a supportive, inclusive, and high-performing team environment. You demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
- A fluent level of English
