Role – Quality Manager
Location - Glasgow
Purpose of the role:
An exciting opportunity has opened for a talented Quality Manager/Auditor to join the Galliford Try team. As a Quality Manager, your role will involve overseeing all quality systems in the Environment Business's project portfolio and the Frameworks you manage.
Working with the Matrix Management system, you will collaborate closely with the Framework Team, Senior Leadership Team (SLT), and Project Teams. Together, you will ensure we follow the rules of the Business Management System. You will directly report to the Head of Quality for the Business, which gives you the authority to drive improvements and enhance quality throughout the organization.
Your core responsibilities involve supporting Project Teams and Functional Supporting Team at every stage to ensure and enhance compliance with the BMS (Business Management System). This includes identifying non-compliances, innovations, and good practices. This role requires analysing data and trending to provide insightful feedback to drive continual improvement. Your role is pivotal in achieving even minor improvements, utilizing effective quality-enhancing strategies to elevate project and business performances.
You will also lead the internal audit process, coordination, and preparation for external audits, including client-based audits and accreditation assessments. Your expertise will ensure thorough reviews of our systems, alignment with ISO 9001 standards, legal requirements, and the high standards set by certification bodies. By managing these external audits effectively, you will strengthen our reputation and commitment to excellence.
Key Accountabilities:
1. Management System Establishment and Maintenance: Review the local implementation of BMS (Business Management System) and maintain in accordance with Client requirements and ISO 9001 requirements.
2. Ensure that the BMS and framework variations are documented, understood, and consistently applied throughout the region.
3. Policy and Objectives: Support Framework management in the local implementation of the quality policy and quality objectives.
4. Contribute to developing Framework strategies and plans to achieve the key goals and objectives of the organisation.
5. Create improvement plans by linking the objectives, measured outcomes, audit actions, and non-Conformance.
6. Communicate the quality policy and objectives throughout the organisation and ensure alignment with business goals.
7. Continual Improvement: Promote a culture of continual improvement throughout the organization.
8. Facilitate regular management reviews to assess the performance and effectiveness of the BMS and identify areas for improvement.
9. Active participation as a member of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) for our region.
10. Auditing and Compliance: Plan, conduct, and coordinate internal audits to ensure compliance with ISO 9001 requirements.
11. Liaise with external auditors during certification or surveillance audits.
12. Problem Solving and Corrective Action: Investigate and address non-conformities, defects, and quality issues promptly and effectively.
13. Support Team with the implementation of corrective and preventive actions with the root cause process to prevent recurrence of problems.
14. Supplier Quality Management: Collaborate with Supply Chain Department to establish and maintain quality requirements for suppliers and vendors.
15. Conduct audits or assessments of suppliers to ensure their compliance with quality standards.
About you:
* Knowledge and Skills: In-depth understanding of ISO 9001 standards and other relevant quality standards in construction. Strong auditing skills, including internal and external audit experience. Excellent problem-solving and root cause analysis abilities. Effective communication and leadership skills. Proficiency in quality management software and tools.
* Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with UK construction regulations and standards.
* Attention to Detail: Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to ensuring quality in all aspects of construction projects.
* Team Player: Ability to work collaboratively with project teams, subcontractors, and suppliers to achieve quality objectives.
* Adaptability: Ability to adapt to changing project requirements and priorities.
* Strong Work Ethic: A strong commitment to ethics, integrity, and professionalism.
* Educational Background: Diploma or associate degree in a related field (e.g., Engineering, Quality Management, Construction Management). Relevant certifications such as CQI & IRCA Certified ISO 9001: 2015 Internal Auditor.
* Professional Experience: A minimum of 2 years of experience in quality management and auditing within the construction industry. Proven track record of successful QMS maintenance.
* CSCS Qualification.
* Office 365 expertise.
* Travel to various site locations across a wide operating area will require a UK Driving License.
Summary:
Regional Quality Managers will be required to travel outside of their respective areas as directed by the Quality Head for things such as Quality Manager Forums, or to assist with audits in another Region.
A Quality Manager with excellent written and verbal communication skills, who can deliver robust business assurance based on a background in the construction industry and implement the use of the Galliford Try Business Management System, relevant International / British Standards in practical applications.
