Supply Chain & Retail
Supply Chain Services provides both pre-wholesale and wholesale distribution of pharmaceutical, healthcare and animal health products to pharmacies and hospital nationwide. The business supports a diverse customer base through the provision of strong service levels coupled with innovative commercial initiatives. In addition, the business provides services and supports that help independent community pharmacy to compete more effectively in an increasingly difficult environment and runs a network of Uniphar-owned pharmacies under the Life, Allcare, McCauleys and Hickeys symbol brands.
Pharma – On Demand
The On-Demand business is a specialist medical supply business that sources and distributes pharmaceuticals, medical equipment, and consumable supplies to healthcare professionals in over 160 countries worldwide. We have offices in Ireland, UK, Europe, USA and New Zealand. The company’s main divisions encompass everything from International Sales through Sales to NGO’s and Charities, Clinical Trials Supply, Imported (Unlicensed Medicines), Sexual Health Supplies, and the storage and distribution of medical products and devices for third parties .

The role
The person will play a critical role in managing the creation and maintenance of pharmaceutical items. This role involves ensuring compliance with MHRA regulations, understanding commodity codes, managing various types of pharmaceutical products, and understanding their storage conditions.
Additionally, the Master Data Specialist will be responsible for classifying products according to UK WDA (Wholesale Distribution Authorisation) categories and understanding the importance of supplier and manufacturer details. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of pharmaceutical regulations and practices, excellent organizational skills, and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of compliance and quality.
Key Outcomes and Responsibilities
The successful creation of new products in compliance with regulatory and quality standards.
Existing products are effectively managed, with necessary updates and modifications made in a timely manner.
Commodity codes are accurately applied to pharmaceutical products, ensuring correct classification for customs and regulatory purposes.
1. Liaise with the business on the development and implementation of robust master data and related processes.
2. Accountable for completing Master Data activities within required timelines, always ensuring accuracy & minimising the impact of errors.
3. Participation in key projects & duties as defined by the business – data cleansing, system development etc.
4. Assist with the training of business units on Master Data processes (content, quality & governance).
5. Seek opportunities to continuously improve the existing Master Data processes and tools.
6. Operate in a proactive manner complying with Company procedures.
7. Proactively highlight any issues around Master Data quality, compliance & governance.
8. Contribute towards business objectives in line with the overall business strategy.
9. Work closely with Business Unit & Project teams to ensure optimum Master Data quality & efficiency.
10. Lead or contribute to global projects and initiatives and promote internal and external collaboration to adopt new and enhance existing digital solutions.
11. Product Creation & Management: Oversee the creation of new pharmaceutical products in compliance with MHRA (Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency) regulations and guidelines.Stay updated on changes to pharmaceutical regulations and adapt practices accordingly.Gain a thorough understanding of various types of pharmaceutical products, including their characteristics and requirements.
12. Commodity Codes & Classification: Understand and apply commodity codes for pharmaceutical products.Ensure accurate classification and documentation of products for customs and regulatory purposes.
13. Collaboration & Communication: Work closely with internal teams to ensure seamless product management.
Qualifications:
14. Bachelor’s degree in pharmacy or a related field; Master’s degree or higher qualification is a plus.
15. Excellent PC skills, including Excel, Word & PowerPoint etc.
16. Medicines knowledge, previous experience in a retail or hospital setting a distinct advantage.
17. Extremely competent with Microsoft Excel – formulas & macro’s etc.
18. Knowledge of ERPs and other IT systems.
19. Good planning & organising skills with good time management.
20. Strong analytical skills with proven problem-solving ability in a busy, fast-moving environment.
21. Proficiency in commodity codes and their application to pharmaceutical products.
22. Knowledge of various types of pharmaceutical products and their storage conditions.
23. Ability to work on their own initiative and equally as part of a team.
24. Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Pharmacist, with a focus on regulatory compliance and product management.
25. Proven experience with MHRA regulations and pharmaceutical product management.

There will be an element of hybrid working available. It is important to note that we do not expect this job to be a ‘9 to 5’ type position.
