A new and exciting opportunity to join our dispensary team as a dispensary counter assistant, across two sites, in our five-doctor GP partnership, based in rural Shropshire, just south of Shrewsbury.
With a long mining history, Pontesbury is one of the largest villages in Shropshire and can boast a wide range of local services including independent local shops selling local produce.
Our branch site is situated just six miles away in Worthen, a small village approximately 13 miles west of Shrewsbury.
Main duties of the job
The main purpose of a Dispensary Counter Assistant is to make sure medication is given out to the correct patient.
* Respect patient confidentiality at all times.
* Deal with any patient queries.
* Assist the Dispensary Manager where needed.

Job responsibilities
* Dealing with patients at the counter.
* Sending patients text messages.
* Making sure FP10s are filled out correctly and are signed by the patient or representative.
* Handling the requirements around Controlled Drugs.
* Processing prescription requests and filing completed prescriptions.
* Taking payment from patients, doing the daily cashing up, and making sure the till has the correct change.
* Disposing of any unwanted medications in accordance with the regulations.
* Transporting medication, samples, and supplies between both sites daily.
* Date checking stock and the prescriptions in retrieval.
* Completing DRUMs.
* Other duties appropriate to the job role as delegated by the line manager.
Person Specification
Experience
* Experience of EMIS Web clinical system.
* Experience in Microsoft 365.
* Demonstrable experience of working in a dispensary.
Knowledge/Skills and Attributes
* Advanced numeracy skills.
* Excellent keyboard and computer skills.
* Excellent communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills.
* Good time management.
* Problem solving.
* Able to manage change and conflict.
* An understanding, acceptance, and adherence to the need for strict confidentiality.

Qualifications
* GCSE grade A to C in English and Maths or equivalent.
